Meet Our Leadership

Kevin Key - Senior Pastor

Kevin comes to us from the heart of Cornerstone Christian Community Church in Deltona, FL. Serving for years as an elder and teaching pastor of Cornerstone, God called Kevin into full time ministry as the Senior Pastor of Cornerstone in 2004.

A Timothy of Cornerstone and mentored by his father Ken Key, the founding pastor of Cornerstone who preached for 45 years before being called home by our Lord; Kevin grew up in the Christian Church his entire life. Being part of an evangelistic family whose grandfather ministered for 41 years, his uncle who is a singing evangelist and pastors a church in the state of Missouri; Kevin's heritage is rich in the Christian Church.

His desire to serve Christ, the community, and the church is clearly seen by the lives that are being changed, the growth Cornerstone continues to see by the grace of God.

Kevin and Claudia have been married for 29 years and have two grown children; Kristen Ann Madzik age 26 married to Christopher Madzik, and 24 year old Tyler Brent Key married to daughter-in-law Amanda (Stein) Key.

Richard Love - Executive Pastor

Richard Love became part of the Cornerstone family after his February 4, 2006 marriage to the then Beverly Key, widow of Ken Key, the founding pastor of Cornerstone, and mother of our pastor, Kevin Key.

"Rich" as he has become known since coming to Cornerstone, has been greatly influenced by the call to ministry all of his life. The son of a pastor, he committed his life to Jesus Christ as his Savior at age eight and was called to the ministry at age nine. He preached his first sermon at age fourteen and was first ordained to the gospel ministry in 1962. Since that time he has served as senior pastor of three different churches in Tennessee and Georgia and as an associate pastor in three other churches. He also served for five years in parachurch ministries and for three years as assistant editor of Christianity Today magazine. For nearly ten years he ministered full-time as a marriage and family pastoral counselor through a private practice known as “New Creation Ministries.”

Rich attended Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC, for two years. He then transferred to Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, where he received his B.A. degree. He received the M.Div degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, GA and a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from the University of Manchester, Manchester, England.

Rich and Bev are blessed with a blended family of six children and seventeen grandchildren, and between the two of them have served almost 95 years in the ministry of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Eldership

Led by Elders Rick Demeter and Noel Pullen the Eldership is the Keystone to Cornerstone Christian Community Church.

The New Testament is clear that the church is to be led by a plurality of godly leaders under the oversight and watch care of elders. The elders are given ultimate responsibility and authority to see that the church remains on a true course biblically, that its members are being appropriately shepherded, that the body is being fed through insightful and accurate biblical teaching, and that the life of the church is being well managed with the assistance of other competent and godly leaders. They are to care about the spiritual and physical well being of members, regularly praying for the sick. They are to guard the body against harmful influences, confronting those who are contradicting biblical truth or who are continuing in patterns of sinful behavior. In doing so, they are to keep closing potential entrances for Satan, so that the truth of Christ will remain credible to both the congregation and the community. (1 Pet. 5:1-4; Acts 20:28-31; Titus 1:1-9; James 5:14) Elders: Provide Biblical Leadership to the Church on a daily basis and in their monthly meetings, the Elders team tackles key issues facing the church. These include:

  • Creating policy in terms of church belief or biblical interpretation
  • Dealing with social issues
  • Conflict resolution, discipline, and restoration
  • Counseling staff or members of the congregation
  • Working with the staff on conference content or speakers
  • Reviewing strategic plans created by the other leadership teams
  • Providing input to the Board of Directors on financial or risk-management issues

The tasks and responsibilities of the Elders vary greatly and require discernment, as they strive to keep the church on its biblical course.

Each and every week, hundreds of people participate in Cornerstone’s services. Each and every day, the members of Cornerstone’s Elder Board are committed to shepherding and leading the people who call Cornerstone their church home.

Keeping Cornerstone On Course The Elders take seriously their charge to bring honor to the bride of Christ - as the church is referred to in the Bible. This means wrestling with difficult decisions from a macro and micro perspective...with a lot in between. When dealing with difficult issues, the elders know they need to come to an agreement that is consensual. They work, pray, and stay at it until they all come to an agreement that is consensual - among a plurality of godly leaders. There is a high level of trust, respect, and recognition of the specific gifts and talents resident within each person,

Character, Competency, Chemistry and Calling The specifics of being an Elder start with character. When you look at the role of Elder in Scripture, most of Paul’s teaching isn’t about job descriptions, “It’s primarily about character. The game is won or lost on character.” Character, competency, and chemistry make up what refers to as the 3Cs of the Elder board selection. Another key C: calling.
